When running backups you may come across the problems that CD-Rs are too small for some backups. You could always have multiple discs, but then depending on how much data you are backing up you could be there all day and end up with multiple discs. There is an ideal solution, and that is using DVD-Rs rather than CD-Rs.

Backup to DVD could easily store as mnay as 7 CDs at a time. You could backup 5 to 10 GB with a single DVD using compression. COmpressing your DVD before backup will provide more efficiency. Using DVDs instead of CDs will significantly speed up large backups and will increase storage on your hard drive.

Backing up to DVD is an excellent source of backing up information in case of emergencies. Although, with CDs or DVDs, security can become an issue. DVDs can easily get lost or even stolen, therefore the need to protect your backups from unauthorized access by using some kind of password protection or even encryption comes into effect. A backup may contain emails, important documents and other sensitive information that needs to be protected.

Backup to DVD is a very simple process. Storing information on DVD is as easy as inserting your DVD in the writable drive and following easy instructions to backup. Every company should utilize some source of backup to ensure the success of the business.
